JDCC basketball falls in first two games

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team kicked off their 2008 season Friday night with an away game at Lawson State and fell to 0-1 with an 81-44 loss.
The Warhawks shot 34 percent from the field Friday night in the loss and was 8-for-17 from free throw land.
Tysean Thompson led the Warhawks with 8 points in the loss.
Chase Cornelius followed with seven and Anthony Jones had six.
Antron Holt led the Warhawks with 11 rebounds and Cornelius led with three assists.
Jones led JDCC with two blocks and Justin Burroughs and Cornelius both had three steals each.
In their second game of the season on Saturday, JDCC fell to 0-2 on the season with a 108-04 loss to Snead State.
Snead led 60-52 at the end of the first half and outscored the Warhawks 48-42 in the second half to claim the 14-point win.
JDCC had four players in double digits in the loss. Deforest Taite led with 26 points followed by 18 points from both Tysean Thompson and Logan Campbell.
Fred Underwood rounded out the double-digit scorers with 17 points.
Anthony Jones, Taite, and Campbell all led with five rebounds for the Warhawks and Taite led with five assistants.
Holt led with one block and Cornelius led with four steals.
