Daniel Blair wasn't even born when Alabama won its last national championship in 1992, but he was in line Wednesday to meet the quarterback of that team.
Fans of all ages lined up at the new Brewton Walmart Supercenter on Wednesday to get a chance to meet Barker, who was quarterback at Alabama from 1991-1994.
Erin Etheridge said that she was just adding to her collection of Alabama memorabilia after meeting Barker.
Barker said it meant a lot to see all the fans in line to meet him.
While Barker's 1992 team was the last Alabama team to win the national championship, Barker said that this year's team has a great chance to win it also.
Barker said some people may have “chuckled” at some of coach Nick Saban's decisions - such as bringing in psychologists to meet with the team.
In fact, the team's success reminds Barker of his 1992 championship team.
Barker came to Brewton as part of the grand opening festivities of the new store with the Frito-Lay company.
Ashley Crumpton with Frito-Lay said Barker and the company have been teaming up for about eight years.
Brewton Walmart manager Bill Willis stood in line with his son on Wednesday to get a chance to meet Barker.
While At Alabama, Barker was 35-2-1 and currently holds the record as the winningest quarterback in Alabama history.
In 1994, he won the Unitas Award and was a finalist for the Heisman trophy.
Currently Barker is an ESPN radio analyst and on on-air radio personality on WJOX radio in Birmingham where he is co-host of the morning show “The Opening Drive.”
Barker is married to country singer Sara Evans, and they have seven children.
