Minister Kathy M. Farrish, 55, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008. She was a native of Brewton and was employed at West Gate Village Nursing Home for about 16 years and with the Department of Public Health for more than 13 years until she became disabled. She was a minister who served in the ministry for several years, including several months in the radio ministry on WEBJ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Solomon McWilliams and Alberta Jones McWilliams.
She is survived by her husband, John Lee Farrish Jr.; three children, John Lee (Shanina) Farrish III of Panama City, Fla.; her co-pastor, Kwan (Apostle Jermaine) Gibbs of Monroeville and Minister Reginald (Elsie) Farrish of Montgomery; three grandchildren, Desiree Gibbs, Adrian Gibbs and Joycelyn Farrish; seven siblings, Elder Robert (Minister Barbara) McWilliams, Regina (McKinley) Jenkins, Kenneth (Sylvia) McWilliams, Ethel Lewis, Eric (Ella) McWilliams, Janice Jones and Gerald McWilliams; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with Apostle Jermaine Gibbs officiating. Burial followed at Old Springhill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
