Last year, T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head basketball coach Ron Jackson took a team with no seniors on it and led them to a 21-5 record, a south regional championship and to the final four of the class 4A state championships.
This year, the 2008-2009 team has five seniors, five juniors, four sophomores, and two freshmen. All but one of those Lady Tigers were on that final four team of last year.
While defense has always been a key for T.R. Miller Lady Tiger teams and teams coached by Jackson, he said that offensively his team is as good as they have ever been.
Kesha Peterson and Catherine Green will be a key pair of seniors for the Lady Tigers this season.
Freshman Leah Brundidge will play backup to Green this season.
MyNetra Boley will be another senior for the Lady Tigers who will be looked to have a good year.
Junior Keydra Shedrone will see sometime in the starting five for the Lady Tigers this season.
Zykeya Barton will also see sometime in the starting five for the Lady Tigers this season.
One of the most improved players on the team is Shay Kiser and Janel McCrery.
As for the Lady Tiger's schedule, T.R. Miller will play in the county tournament as usual and will be in the Choctawhatchee Christmas tournament along with a new 3A area.
T.R. Miller win open their 2008 season Monday, Nov. 24, on the road against Monroeville.
As of right now those games are still on, but that will also depend on the Tigers football team and how long the stay in the playoffs for the boys team to be read to play Jackson said.
