BMS hoops beat Jay, fall to Carver

In their two games this week, the Brewton Middle School boy's basketball and the Lady Tiger team split.
The Brewton boys defeated Jay 31-19 before falling to Carver 49-26. With the split, Brewton is now 2-2.
The Lady Tigers defeated Jay 8-6 to pick up their first win of the season Thursday night, but fell to Carver 34-11. Their record now stands at 1-3 on the season.
Brewton was set to travel to Jay on Thursday.
The two Brewton teams will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 2 at Earnest Ward.
Game time is set for 5 p.m. for the girls and 6 p.m. for the boys.
BMS boys 31, Jay 19
After being outscored 5-4 in the first quarter, Brewton put a 12 spot on Jay in the second quarter and held Jay to five points again to claim a 16-10 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Brewton outscored Jay 5-3 and again in the fourth quarter with a 10-6 lead to win by 12 points with a score of 31-19.
Dominique Jackson led Brewton with 11 points and Caleb Hubbard with 10.
BMS Lady Tigers 8, Jay 6
The Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers picked up their first win of the season with an 8-6 win over the Jay Royals.
Brewton was outscored 3-0 in the first quarter, but scored four in the second quarter to cut the Jay led to 6-4 at the half.
In the second half, both teams failed to score in the third quarter as Jay kept their 6-4 lead.
In the fourth and final quarter, the Lady Tiger defense kept Jay off the scoreboard again while scoring four in the quarter and winning 8-6.
Carver 49, BMS boys 26
After two straight wins after losing their first game of the season, Carver ended the Tiger win streak with a 49-26 loss.
Carver jumped on Brewton early in their game when they scored 18 points in the first quarter to Brewton's four.
In the second quarter, Carver scored 13 points to Brewton's eight to claim a 31-12 lead at the half.
Brewton outscored Carver 7-4 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 35-19.
But in the fourth quarter, Carver doubled up Brewton 14-7 to claim the 23-point win at 49-26.
Hubbard scored 10 points in the loss to lead Brewton.
Carver girls 34,
Brewton Lady Tigers 11
After picking up their first win of the season with a win over Jay in their most recent game, the Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers fell to 1-3 with a 34-11 to Carver.
Carver outscored Brewton 9-3 and 8-2 in the second quarter to claim a 17-5 lead at the half.
In the second half, Carver outscored Brewton 13-4 in the third quarter and 4-2 in the fourth quarter as they claimed the 34-11.
Kadieah Shufford led the Lady Tigers with six points.
