Mr. Claude Curtis Cooper, 75, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at a Pensacola, Fla., hospital. He was a native of Wallace and a resident of Century since 1977, coming from Fort Walton Beach, Fla. He was a member of the Century Masonic Lodge, Poplar Dell Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he retired with the rank of master sergeant. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Cooper; his mother, Cora Cooper Jarman; and a daughter, Shelia Ann Cooper.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Nell Cooper of Century; a daughter, Sharon (Gene) Findley of Byrneville, Fla.; a brother, Jessie (Betty) Odom of Atmore; two sisters, Polly (Carl) Gandy of Century, and Bonnie (Sonny) Davis of York, S.C.; a special sister and brother-in-law, Jewel and Huddy Hudson of Ft. Clark, Texas; a special grandchild, Heather Jordan; and special great-grandchildren, McKayla and Cameron.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Flomaton Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Herring and the Rev. Robert Gandy officiating. Burial followed at Poplar Dell Cemetery with military honors with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.
