Three Brewton shoppers had their thinking caps on Thursday night as they gathered clues to find a buried treasure during the Downtown Brewton Holiday Kickoff.
The scavenger hunt was one way local businesses tried to draw shoppers downtown to kick off the Christmas shopping season. Entertainment, special sales and even a visit from Santa were part of the festivities.
Once she found the prize, TammyAnn Hulsey said she almost didn't want to let the cat out of the bag.
Hulsey and friends Kathy Long and Lisa Schlomann pooled their resources on the clues and will share in the prize - gift certificates to every downtown business that participated.
The interest in the hunt and in the sales in general Thursday night have Shades of Gray owner Candy Smith excited about the holiday prospects.
Smith said she noticed several new customers coming to her shop.
And Smith said the special events like the scavenger hunt helped draw new visitors to the stores, such as the winners of the contest.
So where was the prize that helped draw some shoppers to the downtown sale? Let's see if these clues help you determine where it was. The answer is on page 6A.
