Mrs. Marie Q. Coleman, 65, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at a local hospital after losing her battle with cancer. She was a native of Uriah, a resident of Atmore of the past 67 years, and attended the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by David Qualls, Resa Qualls Chambless, her stepfather, Curtis Chambless; two sisters, Betty Carnley and Mary Luker; and a brother-in-law, Jack Frost.
She is survived by her husband of more than 47 years, Cecil Coleman of Atmore; two sons, Richard Colemen of Flomaton, and Shawn Coleman of Milton, Fla.; two daughters, Deborah (Robert) Hunter of Avondale, Ariz., and Vickie (Mark) Baker of Hopkinton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Tyler Coleman and Travis Coleman, both of Flomaton, Phillip Coleman of Milton, Steven Hunter of Avondale, and Melena Baker, both of Hopkinton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Earl Harrison officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral directing.
