Santa is set to make his official arrival to the Brewton area as the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce presents the annual community Christmas parade. The event will get underway at 2 p.m. Dec. 13 and will feature a variety of floats, marchers and bands.
Jones said each unit must be registered with the Chamber before being included in the parade.
The parade will line up in East Brewton on Shoffner Street and will travel down Forrest Avenue. After crossing the Murder Creek bridge, the parade will continue to the main intersection downtown and will turn onto St. Joseph Street to Belleville Avenue, Jones said. The parade will disband on side streets of McLellan, Rankin and Grandberry Streets.
Jones also said floats entered in the parade will be judged for a variety of prizes.
Jones said bands set to perform in the parade include W.S. Neal High School, T.R. Miller High School and Brewton Middle School.
The highlight of the parade will be the finale of the parade with Santa Claus making his official appearance in Brewton for the holidays, Jones said.
Jones said Santa will also be taking time following the parade to visit with the children in the community.
Mrs. Claus will also be making her appearance during the parade, Jones said.
For those interested in participating in the parade, guidelines must be followed in order to be a qualified entry.
