When Ronnie Blackmon was just a small kid growing up in Brewton, he never would have dreamed he would be where he is now.
But according to Blackmon right now, he is still chasing that dream-the dream of one day being a head coach.
Blackmon grew up in Brewton and graduated from Southern Normal High School in 1988.
After graduation he went Alabama State University and later transferred to Morehouse College in Atlanta.
While at Morehouse, Blackmon earned a bachelor's of arts degree in health and physical education.
In 2007, Blackmon went to Walden University and earned a master's degree. He is currently working on a doctorate from Walden.
While at Morehouse, Blackmon played football. Blackmon always enjoyed the game of football since an early age always wanted to be a coach.
While Blackmon grew up an Alabama fan and fell in love with Bryant, locals helped influence his decision also.
Blackmon has been a head coach before, but one day would love to be a “real” head coach.
Blackmon began his coaching career at Morris Brown College where he coached running backs, but in 2003 went to the high school ranks.
While in high school, Blackmon coached Eric Berry, who currently plays at the University of Tennessee, and Cam Newton, who is a backup quarterback at the University of Florida.
While there are many things he likes about the coaching profession, one thing sticks out for Blackmon.
While Blackmon is currently a coach at Clark Atlanta University, there is one dream he is still chasing.
Blackmon is married to Shebella Blackmon and they live in Atlanta. The couple has three children, Tyra, 13, Chardae, 12, and Ronnie II, who is 11. Blackmon has an older daughter Tess, 15, who resides in Brewton.
One other person Blackmon credits is his mother.
