Middle schools split in East Brewton

In the final game of the season for the W.S. Neal Middle School basketball teams, the Lady Eagles ended with a 30-15 win over the Brewton Middle School Tigers and the boys team fell to Brewton 47-32.
The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles finished the season 7-3 and Brewton finished 4-4. For the boys, W.S. Neal ended their season 0-10 and Brewton improved to 6-2.
W.S. Neal Lady Eagles 30, Brewton Middle School 15
The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles used a 12-0 run over a span of two quarters to claim a 19-4 lead over the Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers en route to a 30-15 win in their last game.
Arianna Jones led W.S. Neal with 10 points followed by eight points apiece from Tiana Smith and Shapassion Lane.
Lauren Bradley led Brewton with six points in the loss.
W.S. Neal held a 4-2 lead after a tight first quarter and then scored seven points in the second quarter while holding Brewton to another two points to claim an 11-4 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Eagles outscored Brewton 8-4 to claim a 19-8 lead and added 11 points in the fourth quarter to Brewton's seven to pick up the win by 15, 30-15.
Brewton will take on McCall and Earnest Ward this week to end their season. Both games will be on the road.
Brewton will take on McCall Monday at 6 p.m. and then will end their season with Earnest Ward in Walnut Hill on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Brewton Middle School Boys 47, W.S. Neal 32
The Brewton Middle School boys ended the W.S. Neal boys season without any wins Thursday night in East Brewton as they defeated W.S. Neal 47-32.
The win improved Brewton to 6-2 while the loss ended the season for W.S. Neat at 0-10.
Brewton started the game with a 14-0 run in the first quarter and outscored W.S. Neal 18-4 in the quarter to hold a 14-point lead.
Brewton added to their lead in the second quarter when they outscored the Eagles 14-3 to claim a 25-point lead at the half 32-7.
Brewton continued to add to their lead in the third quarter when they held a 9-5 advantage in the quarter to take a 41-12 lead into the fourth quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, W.S. Neal went on a 14-0 run to cut the Brewton lead to 45-30 with 52.6 seconds left in the game, but Brewton was able to hang on for the win, 47-32.
Mark Bryant and Dominique Jackson led Brewton with 12 points each in the win over W.S. Neal..
Marquese Banks led W.S. Neal with 11 points in the loss.
