Lady Tigers defeat WSN, 50-17

After a tight first quarter Friday night, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers went back to their trademark defense. The result was a group showing to be they were the more experienced team as they defeated the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles 50-17.
The win improved T.R. Miller to 3-1 and dropped W.S. Neal to 5-2.
Leading only 6-3 at the end of the first quarter, T.R. Miller outscored W.S. Neal 19-2 in the second quarter and 19-4 in the fourth quarter to help claim the win.
Ashley Williams led T.R. Miller with 13 points, and Kesha Peterson added 11 points in the win for the Lady Tigers.
Zykeya Barton poured in eight points and MyNetra Boley added six points along with Keydra Shedrone.
Freda Folmar led W.S Neal with nine points in the loss for the Lady Eagles.
Shedrone got the Lady Tigers on the board first with a basket at the 3:54 mark as both teams failed to score for the first 4:06 in the game.
Folmar tied the game at 2-2 for the Lady Eagles and Rachel Davis gave W.S. Neal a brief 3-2 lead with 2:17 left in the first quarter.
Those would be the last points of the first quarter for the Lady Eagles as Shedrone gave T.R. Miller a 4-3 lead and Catherine Green added two free throws as the Lady Tigers held a 6-3 lead after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, T.R. Miller used a 17-0 run to take a 19-3 lead over the Lady Eagles with 2:47 left before the half.
W.S. Neal got on the board at the 2:29 mark when Keyvonnia Kyles cut the lead to 19-5.
Those points were the only points in the quarter for the Lady Eagles.
T.R. Miller then used another run, this one a 6-0 run to end the half with a 25-5 lead.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal outscored T.R. Miller 8-6 to cut the Lady Tiger lead to 31-13.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers outscored W.S. Neal 19-4 to take the win.
T.R. Miller went on a 15-0 run to claim a 44-13 lead with 4:24 left in the game.
From there, the Tiger bench played the remainder of the game and Shaniqua Kiser, Brittany Rush and Courtney Jones all had two points each in the win.
In other games, the W.S. Neal High School Lady Eagle basketball team improved to 5-1 with two wins over Excel and Northview.
The Lady Eagles defeated Excel for the second time this season 46-40 in Excel and defeated Northview 41-26.
The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Friday when they take part in the Escambia County Tournament in Atmore.
The tournament will begin Friday and will continue Saturday and Monday.
W.S. Neal Lady Eagles 46, Excel 40
Rachel Davis scored 21 points to lead the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles to a 46-40 win over Excel in Excel.
Keyvonnia Kyles added 12 points in the Lady Eagle win. Freda Folmar added seven points followed by six from Lakeisha Hawthorne.
The Lady Eagles outscored W.S. Neal 10-7 in the first quarter and 16-6 in the second quarter to claim a 26-13 lead at the half.
In the second half, W.S. Neal outscored Excel 10-1 to extend their lead to 36-14.
In the fourth quarter, Excel outscored W.S. Neal by 16, 26-10, but the Lady Eagles were able to hang on for the 46-40 win.
W.S. Neal 41, Northview 26
After being outscored 8-4 in the first quarter by Northview, the Lady Eagles outscored Northview 9-2 in the second quarter to hold a 13-10 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal took their three-point lead and extended it to a 12-point lead as they outscored Northview 17-8 to hold a 30-18 lead heading into the fourth quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, W.S. Neal outscored the Lady Chiefs 11-8 to win by 15 points, 41-26.
Davis scored 13 points in the win to lead the Lady Eagles. Katie Elliott scored 10 in the win.
Kyles scored six points to help in the win.
