A brief Tuesday afternoon chase ended with Brewton police officers arresting a Century, Fla., man on drug charges and looking for a good body shop.
Cedric Lamar Carter has been charged with criminal mischief, first degree; possession of a controlled substance - crack cocaine and possession of marijuana, first degree.
Sgt. Bryan Davis, commander of the Brewton Police Narcotics Unit, said officers attempted to make a traffic stop on Carter when he made a run to get away.
The silver Dodge Charger driving by Carter, was also damaged in the incident, Davis said.
Officers in pursuit of Carter orchestrated a move that brought the car to a stop in the parking lot of Hunan's restaurant, Davis said. “Our officers used a precisions immobilization technique to stop the vehicle,” Davis said. “Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.”
Davis said all officers involved in the case worked well together to stop Carter from getting away for police.
Carter was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center where he was being held on a total $30,000 bond.
