Christmas will be brighter this year for approximately 700 children in the Brewton area thanks to The Christmas Project.
The Christmas Project is coordinated through the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce each year to help provide gifts for needy children in the community, Executive Director Judy Crane said.
Chamber Secretary Michelle Jones said the program was successful this year because of contributions made to the Project.
Children are selected based on recommendations from faculty and staff at area schools, Jones said.
Crane said the assistance of two organizations have greatly helped in meeting the needs of many of the children.
Although the Project's main focus is on school age children, elderly residents are also included each year.
Crane said the distribution site was provided by the First United Methodist Church of Brewton.
