Most businesses and services will have special hours so employees will have an opportunity to spend the holidays with their families.
Sandra Robertson, who works at Brewton City Hall, said city employees are getting two days off during Christmas week and one day the following week. That closing will limit the services available from the city for the holidays.
Robertson said city residents won't have to go without garbage pickup, but some areas will see a change in their usual schedule.
Although garbage pickup schedules will change, Roberson said the trash pickup will stay on schedule.
The majority of banks will be open until noon on Christmas Eve and then take Christmas Day and New Year's Day off. Banks will be operating regular business hours Dec. 26.
Karen Singleton, East Brewton City Clerk, said city employees are getting two days off for Christmas.
Allied Waste will pick up Thursday's garbage on Friday and Friday's garbage on Saturday for both holidays. This schedule is for both city and rural pick-ups.
The post office will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's day, but will be open for business as usual Dec. 26 and 27. and Jan. 2 and 3, 2009.
