WSN splits with Flomaton

The W.S. Neal Lady Tigers picked up their first win in the Escambia County Tournament on Saturday while the varsity Eagles remained winless in the tournament.
The Lady Eagles defeated Flomaton 40-39 to improve to 7-3, tying their win total from last year. The varsity Eagles fell to Flomaton 49-42 and dropped their second game in a row. After six straight wins, the team fell to 8-5 on the season.

Keyvonnia Kyles led the Lady Eagles with 14 points as the Lady Eagles got back on the winning track with a one-point win over the Flomaton Lady Hurricanes.
W.S. Neal led Flomaton 11-7 after the first quarter of play, but a 9-5 run by the Lady Hurricanes in the second quarter tied the game at 16-16 at the half.
In the second half, Flomaton grabbed a 28-23 lead with a 12-7 run in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, W.S. Neal outscored Flomaton 17-11 to grab the win, 40-39.
Along with Kyles, Rachel Davis and Katie Elliott scored seven points for the Lady Eagles.
Freda Folmar and Angelique Askew both scored six points in the win for W.S. Neal.
Flomaton boys 49, W.S. Neal 42
The W.S. Neal dropped their second game in a row overall and in the Escambia County tournament on Saturday in Atmore when they fell to Flomaton 49-42.
Flomaton led W.S. Neal 11-10 at the end of the first quarter and outscored the Eagles 15-5 in the second quarter to hold a 26-15 lead at the half.
In the second half, W.S. Neal claimed a 19-7 scoring advantage in the quarter and grabbed a 34-33 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, Flomaton outscored W.S. Neal 16-8 to grab the seven-point win, 49-42.
The loss to Flomaton was the third loss of the season to the Hurricanes out of five losses.
Both teams for W.S. Neal will be back in action when they take on Nothview on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at home at 4:30 p.m.
