Kayla Zisa and Dustin Smith have a lot to look forward to in 2009 - and they have someone else to share in their excitement.
The couple became parents to the first baby of the new year Thursday when Kayden Blake Smith was born at 7:06 p.m. He weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19 inches long.
Kayden Blake was apparently anxious to join the world, his parents said.
Kayden is the first child born to Zisa and Smith, and they look on it as a scary and exciting time in their lives.
She said that Kayden's father is enjoying his new role.
Kayden Blake Smith is a big name for such a little fellow, but it won't take him long to have his whole family under his thumb. He was surrounded by family members at the hospital.
The baby is the grandson of Darrin Smith of McDavid and Carrie Jackson of Brewton, and Frank and Susan Zisa of McDavid.
