Mrs. Edith Merle Palmer Ball, 81, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at her residence on Dailey Street after an extended illness. She was a native and longtime resident of Escambia County. She was a member of East Brewton Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Miles Wilson “Dub” Ball; a daughter, Sharon Ball Steele; and a granddaughter, Kristy Thomas.
She is survived by a son, Miles (Weena) Ball of Brewton; a daughter, Yvonne (Ronald) Alford of East Brewton; seven grandchildren, Farrah (Ronald) Gibson, Chuck Riddle, Brooke (Chris) Cain, Jason (Suzanne) Thomas, Kevin Steele, Brenna Ball, and Ashley Ball; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Watts officiating. Burial followed at Bradley Church Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
