The lowly pig will be helping to send a team of homebuilders to Costa Rica next month.
Escambia County Habitat for Humanity (formerly Greater Brewton HFH)) is teaming up with the United Methodist Men of Luverne to raise money to send the 11-member team of local volunteers who will work on a Habitat build in Costa Rica Feb. 14-21.
The trip, sponsored by the local Habitat organization, will be funded completely through donations or private funds, Glaize said.
The sale of Boston Butts will help to raise funds that will allow all team members to participate equally in the trip.
Glaize said the men's group will bring cookers and seasonings to Brewton on the eve of the sale. Cooking will be done on the campus of the First United Methodist Church on Belleville Avenue.
Glaize said the slow cooked meat will be ready for pick-up Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6 and 7.
The cost of the Boston Butts is $20 each with all proceeds going to the Costa Rica building team.
Boston Butts may be ordered through the Escambia County Habitat for Humanity by calling 867-0095 or by email at habitat@brewtonhfh.org. Orders of five or more Boston Butts can be delivered on request.
