Mrs. Katherine Rena “Kathy” Varner Crenshaw, 43, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at her residence on Merritt Road after an extended illness. She was a native of Evergreen and a former resident of Monroeville, before moving to Castleberry 14 years ago. She was a homemaker, a member of the Appleton Church of Christ and a member of the Appleton Volunteer Fire Department. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Mae Blair Varner and a brother Kevin Varner.
She is survived by her father, Homer Varner of Castleberry; her husband, Robbie Crenshaw of Castleberry; two sons, Kirk Gutierrez and Jeremy Moralas, both of Castleberry; and one brother, Ricky (Pat) Varner of Castleberry.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 18, at 3 p.m. at the Appleton Church of Christ with Minister Clifford Dixon, the Rev. Herbert Heller and the Rev. James Meadows officiating. Burial followed at Cooper Cemetery in the Appleton community with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers were members of the Brewton Police Department. Honorary pallbearers were William Varner, Roland King, George Brantley and Joey Hutchcraft. In lieu of flowers, make contributions to the family in her memory.
