TRM Tiger B team falls to Cottage Hill Christian 59-33, now 0-8

Two consecutive 8-0 runs to end the second and third quarters was the doom of the T.R. Miller Tiger B team Thursday night at home as they dropped to 0-8 with a 59-33 loss to the Cottage Hill Christian Academy Warriors.
The B team Tigers trailed by one point at the end of the first quarter, 9-8, but succumbed to an 8-0 run heading into the locker room at the half to trail 27-20 after being outscored 18-12 in the quarter.
In the third quarter, it was another 8-0 run that Cottage Hill used and outscored the Tigers 19-8 in the quarter as T.R. Miller trailed 46-28.
In the fourth quarter, the Tigers were held to only five points as Cottage Hill scored 13 to claim the 26-point win 59-33.
Darrion Salter finished in double figures for the Tigers with 13 points. Kori Jackson finished close behind with seven points and Antonio Payne chipped in four points.
Tyler Dehoff added three points and Ricky Curry chipped in two points along with Kameron Winn and Devonte Jones.
In the game Thursday night against Cottage Hill, the Warriors quickly claimed an early 3-0 lead before the Tigers stormed back and took a 4-3 lead with 3:03 left to play after points from Curry and Dehoff.
From there, the Warriors took a 7-4 but had it cut to one after a basket from Salter for the Tigers.
Cottage Hill then held a 9-6 lead with 15.6 seconds left to play in the quarter, but Jackson cut the lead to one for the Tigers as he scored with five seconds left in the quarter.
The Tigers pushed their lead to 12-9 after a 6-0 run that carried over from the first quarter and led 20-19 with 1:22 left to play before the half.
After the one-point lead, Cottage Hill went on an 8-0 run to claim a 27-20 lead at the half.
After cutting the lead to five points early in the third period, Cottage Hill gradually increased their lead in the quarter.
And just like the second quarter ended, the Warriors ended with an 8-0 run to claim an 18-point lead heading into the final quarter of play.
Four quick points to open the fourth quarter for Cottage Hill extended the Warrior run to 12-0 and the lead to 22 points.
Dehoff ended the Warrior run with a free throw at the 5:08 mark, but the Tigers were held to only five points in the quarter and Cottage Hill won 59-33.
The Tigers were set to take on Choctaw County on Saturday at home.
The Tigers will travel to Atmore on Tuesday before returning home on Friday for their final home game against Monroe County.
On Monday, Feb. 2, the Tigers will play their final game of the season on the road at Flomaton.
All games are set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
