The W.S. Neal varsity Eagles basketball team dropped to 14-11 overall and to 0-4 against the Flomaton Hurricanes Friday night at home as they lost 55-51 to the Hurricanes.
W.S Neal had lost to Flomaton once already in the regular season in Flomaton, in a tournament in Flomaton, and in the county tournament.
One of the opportunities and key plays in the game was a technical foul call against the Eagles that turned a six-point Eagle lead into a two-point lead and Flomaton was able to get some momentum.
W.S. Neal trailed 10-9 after the first quarter, but outscored Flomaton 12-9 in the second quarter to claim a 21-19 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Flomaton regained the lead with a 21-15 scoring advantage in the quarter to hold a 40-36 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, both teams totaled 15 points and Flomaton went on to win by four points, 55-51.
Jeremy Nicholson and Bob Elliott led the Eagles with 13 points each. Kendrick Floyd tallied six points in the loss and Rashad Crook, Ashton Elliott and William Shell all had five points.
Jeremy Alexander had three points and Sam Ewing chipped in one point.
W.S. Neal shot 12-of-22 from the free throw line while Flomaton was 10-20 down the stretch in the fourth quarter for the final 3:25 of the game. The Canes were overall 23-of-41 from the line.
W.S. Neal cut the lead to 53-50 with 56 seconds to go, but failed to hit a 3-pointer in the final seconds and Flomaton came away with the rebound to win.
W.S. Neal will take on Frisco City at home on Monday in the regular season finale.
