Eagles, Lady Eagles fall in area tourneys

Both the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles and the varsity Eagles' basketball seasons came to an end in their first games of the area tournament.
The Lady Eagles dropped to and finished their season 14-10 with a 54-26 loss to UMS-Wright Thursday night in Jackson.
Freda Folmar led the Lady Eagles with 11 points and Katie Elliott had 10.
In the boy's game, the Eagles finished their season 15-12 with a 59-38 loss to No. 9 ranked and top seed in the area B.C. Rain.
W.S. Neal led 10-4 after the first quarter, but trailed 21-19 at the half.
In the third quarter, B.C. Rain grabbed a 38-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter of play and outscored the Eagles 21-7 in the fourth to win 59-38.
Bob Elliott led W.S. Neal with 10 points and William Shell had nine points in the loss for the Eagles..
While both teams fell in the area tournaments, the season saw great success for both teams.
Both teams posted ten-win seasons for the first time in years.
Last season, the Lady Eagles finished 7-17 and the boys finished 4-20.
The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles doubled their win total from last season, while the boys more than tripled their win total from last season and tripled their wins from the past three seasons combined.
