Mr. Dale Wendall Jay, 61, died Feb. 9, 2009, in Monroeville. He was a lifelong resident of Monroe County, graduated from J.U. Blacksher High School and Jeff Davis Technical School. He had been employed with Vanity Fair for 43 years in maintenance and transportation. He attended Woodlawn Methodist Church and was a member of the gospel singing group, Grateful Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda E. Jay of Frisco City; two daughters, Wendy (Chad) Haygens of Prattville, and Cristie (David) Williams of Montgomery; a stepdaughter, Kathy (Tony) Dobbs of Montgomery; his parents, Calvin and Doris Jay of Rocky Hill; a sister, Cornelia (Wayne) Presley of Lottie; four brothers, Gerald Jay of Chunchula, Gene (Elaine) Jay of Rocky Hill, Phillip (Brenda) Jay of the Chrysler community, and Dink (Ellen) Jay of Rocky Hill; five grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson and the Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Frisco City, with Monroe Chapel Funeral Home directing.
