Mr. Thomas Reese Jr., 83, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at his residence on North Pine Street, after an extended illness. He was a native of Birmingham, before moving to Brewton 34 years ago. He was retired from Brewton Iron Works and a 1949 graduate of Auburn University. He was a member of the Foundryman’s Society, American Society of Metals, and Phi Kappa Alpha. He was a member of Brewton First United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joy Stewart Reese of Brewton; three sons, Richard Thomas (Judy) Reese of Jacksonville, Fla., Gary Stewart (Judy) Reese of Springville, and George Alan (Neressa) Reese of Montevallo; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Kimberly, Richard, Rebecca, David and Derek; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 12, at 11:30 a.m. at Union Cemetery with Dr. Ed Glaize officiating.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Brewton First United Methodist Church with Dr. Ed Glaize officiating and Williams Chapel Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, make contributions to the Brewton First United Methodist Church.
