If you think cake can’t cure cancer, you may just be wrong. At least that’s the hope of members of the Jefferson Davis Community College Relay for Life team.
As part of the team’s fund-raising efforts, a “Best Cake in Town” contest is being held with judging set for Friday.
Maurice Moore, director of campus life, and Sharon Peacock, faculty member at the college, are co-sponsoring the event with the students on the team.
Moore said four area experts have been drafted as judges for the contest finale set for 9 a.m. Friday.
The contest is becoming a regular event at JD for Relay for Life fundraising, Moore said.
Moore said once judging is complete for the contest, each cake submitted will be sliced and sold by the slice.
The deadline for registration of entered cakes is Tuesday, with a $10 entry fee required, Moore said.
Entry applications can be found on the JDCC website at www.jdcc.edu or by calling Moore at 809-1615 or the main campus number at 867-4832.
