JDCC Lady Warhawk softball falls to PJC, now 1-3

After having all of their games rained out or postponed since playing their first game of the season, the JDCC Lady Warhawk softball team took the field Friday at home against PJC. The team dropped two games to fall to 1-3 overall.
JDCC lost 6-2 in game one and 3-1 in game two. JDCC will take on LBW Thursday at home in a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. and will be back in action on Saturday at home against LSU-Eunice in a double header at noon and 2 p.m.
Game one: PJC 6, JDCC 2
In game one, after tying the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning, JDCC fell to one run in the fifth inning and three in the sixth inning to drop a 6-2 game.
Jessica Morris took the loss on the mound for JDCC. Morris went six innings and allowed four earned runs (six total) on 10 hits, walked four and struck out two. Carla Ray went the final inning and allowed one hit, one walk and struck out one.
Aleah Payne was 2-for-2 at the plate for JDCC and CaSandra Yarbrough was 1-for-1 with the lone RBI for the Lady Warhawks. Amber Wilson was 1-for-4 along with Morris. Ashleigh Allgood was 1-for-3 at the plate.
Game two: PJC 3, JDCC 1
In game two, JDCC managed only four hits as they fell to 1-3 overall with a 3-1 loss.
Payne led JDCC at the plate as she went 2-for-2. Sarah Vardeman was 1-for-2 and Candice Lawrence was 1-for-3 in the loss.
PJC scored one run in the fourth inning and two in the sixth inning to claim a 3-0 lead.
JDCC added one run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it was not enough. The team recorded the loss by two runs.
Kayla McKnight took the loss on the mound for JDCC. McKnight went three innings and allowed one run on five hits and struck out one. Ashleigh Allgood went four innings and allowed three hits, one earned run (two total), four walks and six strikeouts.
