Mr. Willie Frank Stallworth, Sr., 61, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009. He was a native of Repton, and a resident of Brewton for many years. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and was employed by Container Corporation/Smurfit Stone.
He attended schools in Conecuh County and after high school he played some professional baseball in Sacramento, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Commie Stallworth and Leroy Snowden Sr.; seven brothers, Charlie Fred Stallworth, Charles Snowden, Billy Rogers Snowden Sr., Curtis Snowden, Ernest Snowden Sr. Connie Earl and George Henry Stallworth; and a sister, Josephine Snowden Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy “Sapphire” Stallworth; two sons, Willie Stallworth Jr. of Montgomery, and Antonio L. Stallworth of Indianapolis, Ind.; two daughters, KaSandra L. Stallworth of Brewton, and Felisha K. Stallworth of Atlanta, Ga.; four granddaughters, SaMonya, Kierra, and Shayanna Stallworth and Serena Smith; a sister, Eula (Dick) Stallworth of Beatrice; five brothers, Willie (Janice) Snowden, Leroy Snowden Jr., Oscar (Freda) Snowden, and Richard (Angela) Snowden Sr., all of Pensacola, Fla. and Christopher (Connie) Bell of Columbus, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Sherry Rankin of Pensacola, and Martha Thomas and Antoinette (Lorenzo) Andrews of Brewton; two brothers-in-law, Kenny (Saundra) Thomas of Atlanta, and Ronnie Thomas of Brewton; two aunts, Lois Brown of Brewton and Eula (Walter) Cannon of Wingdale, N.Y.; two adopted daughters, Tara Hall and Kanetra Germany; and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie J. Blue and the Rev. Richard Boone officiating.
Burial followed at Sparta Hill Church Cemetery in Evergreen with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
