Mrs. Annie Lee Merritt Dendler, 96, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, after an extended illness. She was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., and a resident there until 2004, when she moved to Brewton. She had been very active in her church, St. Johns Presbyterian, and was a retired federal government employee. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, William Douglas Dendler and her parents, Mamie Seymour Merritt and Thomas Rhett Merritt.
She is survived by four children, Florence Moomey of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Douglas Dendler of Ruskin, Fla., Marsha (Dan) Raulerson of Brewton, and Lynn (Pierce) Adams of Tucson, Ariz.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 18, at 11 a.m. at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Fla., with Craver’s Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Thornwell (Presbyterian) Home for Children, P.O. Box 60, Clinton, S.C. 29325-0060.
