Although the 29th annual Blueberry Festival is still a few months away, the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce is busy compiling recipes for the annual cookbook associated with the festival.
Michelle Jones, secretary at the Chamber, has been sorting and preparing recipes to be included in the publication.
Jones said the kind of recipes submitted for publication don’t have to be just blueberry recipes.
The cookbook’s cover design changes each year but keeps the blueberry as the main focus.
Jones said the design for the 2009 edition is the handiwork of Steve Layton.
Jones said recipe categories in the book will cover a wide range of ideas and cooking styles.
Jones said there is a chance that some recipe submissions could be duplicates.
Jones said all recipes submitted will be published either in the upcoming edition of the book or in future editions.
Cookbooks will be available around June 1, Jones said. The cost of the book will be $10 each.
The books will be available at the offices of the chamber and, of course, at the annual Blueberry Festival at Burnt Corn Creek Park in June.
To submit recipes for publication in the 29th annual Blueberry Festival Cookbook, contact the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce in the Brewton City Hall Complex, 1010B Douglas Avenue, Brewton, AL 36426. Submissions may also be sent by fax to 809-1793 or by e-mail at mjones@brewtonchamber.com.
