Mrs. Jessie Ruth Brown Holland, 72, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, in a local hospital after an extended illness. She was a native and life long resident of Escambia County and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse with D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital, Westgate Village Nursing Home and home health. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Holland.
She is survived by three sons, William M. (Verna) Holland, Sanford (Shelia) Holland, and Daniel (Becky) Holland, all of Brewton; a daughter, Marilyn (James) Parker of Brewton; a brother, Jim (Judy) Brown of Castleberry; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Garrett officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were her grandsons.
