Escambia County Sheriff’s officials are close to making an arrest in a bomb threat called in to the Escambia County Courthouse Monday.
After employees and visitors at the courthouse were asked to leave the building just before 9 a.m. Monday, a search turned up nothing amiss, Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said.
The bomb threat was made to the district attorney’s office from a landline phone, Lambert said.
After the building was evacuated, a sheriff’s search team made a level by level search of the building, which Lambert said went quickly.
A complete search of the building and the outside perimeter of the property did not turn up any suspicious items, Lambert said. Employees who searched their work areas did not turn up any additional information or materials connected with a bomb.
Lambert said officials have determined the location from which the call was made and an investigation is continuing.
Anyone with information concerning the bomb threat caller is asked to contact the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department at 867-0304.
