A log truck apparently trying to cross the railroad tracks on U.S. 31 was hit by a train this morning and overturned, catapulting logs through a window at First Exchange Bank.
No one was injured, but the lobby of the bank was littered with glass and broken furniture.
Teller Jodi Chancery, whose window is closest to the front of the bank, said she had little warning about the accident.
One log landed right where customers would have been standing had the bank been as busy as it was earlier that morning, bank employees said.
The bank will be closed this afternoon, but Thomas said he hopes to reopen Tuesday. The front wall of the bank would likely have to be rebuilt, he said.
