Win streaking|JDCC softball qualifies for state with 11 straight wins

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team continued their recent dominance of teams Wednesday afternoon at home as they picked up their ninth straight win with a sweep of Alabama Southern.
The Lady Warhawks improved to 23-20 overall and to 11-7 in conference play with a 6-2 win in game one and a 7-5 come-from-behind win in game two.
JDCC quite possibly could have not got the second game win against Alabama Southern had it not been for Tiffany Jean (TJ) Duncan’s three-run homerun in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Lady Warhawks trailing 5-3. Duncan also had a homerun against Bishop State on Monday.
Game one: JDCC 6, ASCC 2
Aleah Payne led JDCC at the plate, as she was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a double. Ashleigh Allgood was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and CaSandra Yarbrough was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Jessica Morris was 1-for-4 with one RBI and a double in the win and Duncan, Sarah Vardeman and Candice Lawrence were all 1-for-3.
Allgood picked up the win as she went seven innings allowing two runs on three hits, struck out seven and walked three.
Game two: JDCC 7, ASCC 5
In the bottom of the fifth, JDCC scored four runs thanks to a three-run homerun by Duncan to take a 6-5 lead and win 7-5 for their ninth straight win as they improved to 23-20 overall and to 11-7 in conference play.
Duncan was 2-for-2 with three RBIs to lead JDCC and Morris was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a double.
Payne was 3-for-4 with one RBI and Amber Wilson was 2-for-3 with one RBI in the win.
Kayla McKnight took the win on the mound for JDCC. McKnight went 3 1/3 inning allowing four hits, and struck out one. Allgood picked up the save in 2/3 of an inning allowing one strikeout.
Game one: JDCC 2, WSD 0
Needing at least one win Thursday at home against Wallace State Dothan to make the state tournament, the JDCC Lady Warhawks pulled out a 2-0 win to improve to 24-20 overall and 12-7 in conference with their 10th straight win.
JDCC scored the only two runs of the game in the first inning and picked up the two-run win.
Allgood picked up the win on the mound going seven innings and allowing four hits, walking three and striking out eight while not allowing a run.
Allgood was 1-for-2 with one RBI at the plate and Myers was 1-for-3. Morris was 1-for-4 and Payne was 2-for-3. Wilson was 2-for-3 with one RBI in the win.
Game two: JDCC 3, WSD 2
JDCC finished off the sweep of Wallace State Dothan in their final home game and conference games of the season with a 3-2 win.
The win was JDCC’s 11th straight and improved them to 25-20 and 13-7.
McKnight took the win on the mound for JDCC going seven innings allowing seven hits, two runs (none earned), one walk and struck out two.
Allgood was 1-for-3 with one RBI and a homerun and Myers was 2-for-3. Vardeman added one RBI and Payne was 2-for-3. Wilson was 1-for-3 with one RBI and a double.
