Grover Cleveland “Cleve” Garner|Castleberry

Mr. Grover Cleveland “Cleve” Garner, 87, died Monday, April 27, 2009, in a nursing facility in Camden. He was a resident of Castleberry and was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. He had been employed at Southern Coach serving in many capacities, and retired as plant supervisor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman and Susie Clark Garner; his sisters, Mildred Smith and Lois Quates; and a brother who died as an infant.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beatrice Benefield Garner of Castleberry; six children, Billy (Sheila) Garner of Whatley, Helen (Guy) Johnson of Montgomery, Linda (Johnny) Lovelace of Pensacola, Fla., Judy (Larry) Smith of Heathrow, Fla., Susie (Mike) Little of Albertville, Eddie (Cathy) Garner of Castleberry; a sister, Corinne Bennett of West Plains, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; eight other grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one  great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday at Cope Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Cope Funeral Home of Evergreen. Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Castleberry.
