Mrs. Frances Chavers James, 74, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, in an Opp hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack T. James Sr.; parents, Frank and Dolly Mae Chavers; brothers, Harvey Chavers, Jimmie Chavers and Raymond Chavers; and other siblings, Carl Chavers, Lawrence Chavers, Ed Chavers, Franklin Chavers, Clara Ella Graves, Mae Hutchcraft, R E Steele, and Reaver Chavers.
She is survived by her daughters, Terri (Jimmy) Hutto and Margaret A. Davis; son, Jack T. (Sue) James Jr.; brothers, Willie Chavers and Franklin Chavers; sister, Cecil Steele; grandchildren, Jack T. James III, Britt V. Davis, Jessica (Jason) Aberdeen, Leslie (John) Tippett, Ashli Davis and Lindsey Hutto; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 am Tuesday, May 12, from the First Baptist Church of Opp, with the Rev. Mike Flowers officiating.  Burial followed in the Beulah Cemetery in Brewton, with Wyatt Funeral Home in Opp directing. Grandson Jack T. James, III and nephews Chuck Chavers, David Chavers, Terry Chavers, Tim Chavers and Steve Chavers served as pallbearers.
