Mr. Alvin Ellis Booker, 79, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, in a local hospital after an extended illness. He was a native and former resident of Georgiana, before moving to Brewton. He was of the non-denominational faith, a veteran of the U.S. Army and Airforce and retired from the offshore oil industry.
He is survived by his son, Richie (Susan) Booker of Brewton; a daughter, Angie (Johnny) Grissett of Brewton; a stepson, Eddie (Marcie) Roberts of Missouri; two stepdaughters, Ann Travis of Seminole, and Virginia Overstreet of Brewton; a brother, Billy Booker of Monroeville; a sister, Robin (David) Cole of Ft. Walton, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Bruley and the Rev. Tony Dinkins officiating. Burial followed at Cannan Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
