Speeches talked of heading off into the future for more than 150 seniors during graduation ceremonies in Brewton and East Brewton Friday night.
Although the nation has experienced some economical setbacks through layoffs, closings and other financial crises recently, 2009 graduates have a chance to make a change in their future and the future of the nation.
We encourage those students who were among those celebrating a new life Friday night to consider their future and take seriously the responsibility that has now been handed to them.
For those who plan to stay at home in this community, we encourage you to take on the duty of creating opportunities for you and those around you that will help to make the Brewton and East Brewton community a better place to live, work and play.
For those students headed off to colleges, we encourage you to consider your hometown when you graduate with the knowledge that you can make a difference for those who live here day in and day out.
We encourage everyone, graduates and adults, to take this time to consider what we have in our community and what we can do to help the area thrive economically and socially.
This is your hometown. Use the knowledge you have gained through education to make a difference in the future of this community.
