Three games into the 2009 Brewton Babe Ruth season, three teams are tied for first place with 2-1 records while two teams are 1-2.
The Brewton Dodgers are 2-2 with two straight wins over the White Sox and Evergreen.
Currently, the Angels, Red Sox and Diamondbacks are all 2-1 while the Twins and White Sox are 1-2.
Red Sox 9, Twins 5
Trailing 5-1 after five innings of play, the Red Sox scored four runs in the sixth inning and four runs in the seventh inning to claim a 9-5 win over the Twins.
The Twins held a 5-1 lead early and midway through the game behind six innings of pitching behind Kevin Davis.
Davis allowed four earned runs (five total) on two hits, walked four and struck out 13, but failed to get the win on the mound as the Red Sox scored runs late in the game.
For the Red Sox, Joseph Strength picked up the win in relief of Hunter Mullins.
Mullins went the first four innings and allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits, walked four and struck out four.
Strength allowed two runs on three hits, walked four and struck out five in the win.
Logan Williamson took the loss on the mound for the Twins going one inning and allowing four runs (none earned) on one hit, walked two and struck out none.
Monterius Culliver was 1-for-4 at the plate for the Red Sox and Curtis Glaize was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Cam Blackman was 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Red Sox.
For the Twins, Dylan Godwin was 2-for-4 with a double and Kam Winn was 3-for-4 with three singles.
Davis was 1-for-1 with an RBI in the loss.
Dodgers 15, White Sox 11
The Dodgers trailed 7-0 after the top of the second inning, but rallied with three, five and seven runs in the second, third and fourth innings to get a 15-11 win over the White Sox.
The Dodgers scored seven runs in the fourth inning to have a 15-8 lead and held on for the win after the White Sox scored three runs in the fifth inning.
For the Dodgers, Kieon Smith was 1-for-3 along with Caleb McAnally, Austin Redash and Ryann Gray. Gray had an RBI in the win.
Caleb Dickey was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Darrion Salter and Dalton Smith were both 1-for-2.
Salter had three RBIs and Smith had a double.
For the White Sox, Keith Bradley was 1-for-3 and Damion Williams was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Gary McGraw was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Dominique Jackson was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Jaren Jackson had two RBIs and Cam Easterling was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Dodgers 10, Evergreen 7
After picking up their first win with a 15-11 come-from-behind win over the White Sox, the Dodgers picked up their second win of the season and day with a 10-7 win over Evergreen.
The Dodgers held a 3-0 lead after the first inning, but trailed 4-3 after the top of the second when Evergreen scored four runs.
The Dodgers tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the inning, but Evergreen took a 5-4 lead in the top of the third inning.
The Dodgers quickly rallied with a run of their own to tie the game at 5-5 after three innings.
Salter had two RBIs in the win and Caleb Dickey was 1-for-1 while Redash was 2-for-2 with a homerun.
McAnally was 1-for-3 and Ricky Curry was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Josh Thompkins was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
White Sox 11, Diamondbacks 8
The White Sox picked up their first win of the year with an 11-8 win over the Diamondbacks.
The White Sox rallied with a seven-run fourth inning to get the win by three.
McGraw took the win on the mound for the White Sox going three innings allowing three earned runs (four total) on three hits, walked two and struck out four.
Bradley picked up the save for the White Sox in the win.
The White Sox trailed 4-2 after three innings of play, but scored seven runs in the fourth inning to claim a 9-4 lead to help in the win.
Conner Denton took the loss for the Diamondbacks allowing 10 runs (eight earned) in 3 1/3 innings, 10 hits, and struck out three.
Not only did McGraw pick up the win on the mound, he had two homeruns and three RBIs in a 2-for-4 day at the plate.
Bradley was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Tyler Etheridge was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
Dominique Jackson was 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI and Brian Settle was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Jackson was 1-for-4 and Easterling was 1-for-3 along with Nick Adams. Dedrionne Lee was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Louis Miller was 1-for-4 with a double for the Diamondbacks and Collin Graves was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Denton was 2-for-4 and Eli Tyree was 2-for-3 with a triple. Rob Stokes was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Angels 7, Dodgers 5
Reid Johnson was 2-for-3 with a homerun and a triple as the Angles defeated the Dodgers 7-5.
Ryan Hunt was 1-for-4 and Jacob Fillmore was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Angels and Hayden Cooper added an RBI in the win.
Johnson’s homerun gave the Angels a 2-0 lead after one inning. The Angels added two runs in the second inning to get a 4-0 lead.
The Dodgers cut the lead to 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning, but the Angels added one run in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-3 lead,
The Dodgers tied the game at 5-5 with two runs in the sixth inning, but two runs for the Angels in the inning gave them the 7-5 win.
Cooper picked up the win for the Angles and Johnson earned the save.
For the Dodgers, Tyler Dehoff took the loss.
McAnally was 2-for-3 at the plate and Curry and Salter were both 1-for-3 with Salter having a double and two RBIs.
Twins 4, Angels 3
Jon Ellis grounded into a fielder’s choice but scored the game-winning RBI in Logan Williamson as the Twin defeated the Angels 4-3.
Kevin Davis picked up the win on the mound in relief of starting pitcher Dylan Godwin.
Godwin went 4 1/3 inning allowing three runs, one hit, walked four and struck out seven. Davis went 1 2/3 inning allowing no runs and striking out four and walking two.
Godwin was 1-for-2 with a double and Davis was 1-for-2 with an RBI in the win.
Williamson was 1-for-2 along with Shawn Lucas and Wes Maddox. Maddox had a double in the win.
For the Angels, Ryan Hunt took the loss on the mound going 5 1/3 inning allowing three earned runs (four total) on four hits, striking out five and walking five. Hunt had the lone hit for the Angels in the loss, as he was 1-for-1.
Diamondbacks 5, Red Sox 4
Collin Graves picked up the win on the mound and Conner Denton earned the save as the Diamondbacks defeated the Red Sox 5-4.
The Red Sox led 3-1 after the first inning, but the Diamondbacks scored one run in the second inning and three in the fifth inning to get the one-run win after the Red Sox scored one run in the third inning.
Graves went six innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits, walked four and struck out two.
Denton went one inning and allowed no runs on one hit, walked none and struck out one.
Graves was 1-for-2 and Denton was 1-for-3. Eli Tyree was 1-for-3 with and RBI along with Taylor Ballard. Cameron Knowles was 1-for-2 and Eric Maye was 1-for-3 with Hunter Hanks having an RBI in the win.
For the Red Sox, Joseph Strength took the loss on the mound and was 1-for-2 with an RBI in the loss.
Hunter Mullins was 1-for-2 with a homerun and an RBI and Cam Blackman was 2-for-3.
