Mr. Donnie Franklin Dyess, 67, died Friday, May 22, 2009, in Monroe County. He was a native of Lenox, and a resident of Castleberry for the past 46 years. He was a supervisor at Holman Prison for a number of years and attended Holly Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Dyess and Myrl Rowland Dyess; a brother, Rayford Dyess; and a grandson, Hunter Woods Monk.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Dyess of Castleberry; four sons, David Dyess and Michael (Susie) Dyess, both of Castleberry, William “Billy” (Michelle) Dyess of Brewton, and Ronnie (Stephanie) Dyess of Range; two sisters, Chestine (Albert) Burch and Margaret (Willie) Tyree, both of Lenox; a sister-in-law, Penny Dyess; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at Holly Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Whittfield, the Rev. Thomas Smith, and the Rev. Bobby Boatwright officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Grove Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
