The click-clack of Betty Clark’s shoes in the halls of the Brewton-Escambia Career Technical Center will be just one of the things many people will miss because of her retirement.
A reception was held to honor the educator’s 35 years of service to students in Escambia County. The event was hosted at the center on Pea Ridge Road Friday afternoon and was attended by former students of Clark as well as past and present instructors and administrators.
Jane Henderson, current principal at the center, said Clark can’t really be replaced.
Billy Hines, superintendent of Escambia County Schools, served as a principal and director of the center for nine years beginning in 1996. He said Clark’s skills have made a difference to the community for many years.
Not only was Clark and inspiration to thousands of students during her career, she was a blessing to fellow instructors and administrators at the center.
Hines said her professionalism was also a great asset during his tenure at the center.
Clark was the instructor for the business-office education course taught at the Escambia-Brewton Career Technical Center during her career at the facility. She is retiring to her home to join her husband, A.D. (Buddy) Clark, as they enjoy time with children and grandchildren.
Hines said Clark’s position will be filled, but everyone at the facility will certainly feel her absence at the school.
