Mr. Alvin Thomas Boutwell Sr., 71, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at a Pensacola, Fla., hospital. He was a native and life long resident of Flomaton, and a retired employee of Jefferson Smurfif Paper Mill after 39 years of service. He attended Liberty Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Boutwell of Flomaton; a son, Alvin Thomas Boutwell Jr. of Flomaton; four daughters, Denise Darby and Patsy (Frank) Nelson, both of Irvington, Diane Boutwell of Theodore, and Gabbe Boutwell of Flomaton; a brother, William “Bill” (Marion) Boutwell of Perdido; two sisters, Rachel (Johnny) Freeman of Smithdale, Miss., and Doris (Leroy) Peacock of Jay, Fla.; three grandchildren, Naomi Darby, Brandon Darby and Frank Nelson; and one great-grandchild, Brayden Darby.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 24, at 10 a.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Richburg officiating. Burial will follow at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Knowles, Marvin Wiggins, Ron Johnson, Terry Boutwell, Joey Carter, and James Darby.
