Softball Tigers host tourney

In their summer softball tournament Friday morning at the Brewton YMCA Sports Park, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers went 0-4.
In their first game, the Lady Tigers dropped a 5-0 game to Straughn.
Straughn’s pitching held the Lady Tigers of Brewton to just one lone hit, a double in the final inning by Leigh Margaret Bostic.
Straughn took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first after two hit batters and a leadoff single loaded the bases.
The Lady Tigers plated runs on two passed balls.
T.R. Miller leadoff hitter Janel McCorvey reached on a lead off walk in the first inning, but failed to score after being stranded at second base.
Straughn then added three runs in the top of the fifth inning on a two-out single and an inside-the-park homerun and two Lady Tiger errors.
Bostic doubled in the fifth inning, but failed to score as she was stranded at second base.
In other games for the varsity Lady Tigers, Pleasant Home defeated T.R. Miller 5-3.
In JV action, Straughn defeated T.R. Miller 13-4 and fell to Pleasant Home 9-6.
The Lady Tigers are currently at the University of Alabama softball camp in Tuscaloosa.
