EB 11-12s one game away from district championship

East Brewton’s 11- and 12-year-old Little League All Stars are one game closer to a district championship after defeating Opp 2-1 Thursday night in East Brewton.
East Brewton, who dropped a 4-1 loss to Opp Wednesday night, staved off elimination Wednesday night as they handed Brewton their second loss to them and eliminated Brewton with a 13-6 thriller.
The win propelled East Brewton into Thursday night’s game against Opp. East Brewton needed to beat Opp twice to win the championship.
After the win Thursday night, East Brewton and Opp were set to play against each other again for the third time in the tournament with the championship on the line Friday night at 7 p.m.

Thursday night: East Brewton 2, Opp 1
Facing elimination Thursday night, Opp was faced with the Miles Powell show.
Powell drove in both of East Brewton’s RBIs at the plate with a homerun and a single and went the complete distance on the mound to give East Brewton a 2-1 win over Opp and force a deciding game for the district championship Friday night in East Brewton.
Powell was 2-for-3 with a homerun and single and two RBIs in the win at the plate and Quantae Barksdale and Robin Swift had the other hits each for East Brewton.
Barksdale was 1-for-3 in the win and Swift was 1-for-1 with a double.
On the mound, Powell went six innings and allowed one run on three hits, hit one and struck out eight.
Powell gave East Brewton a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a solo homerun.
Opp tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning, but Powell singled in the second inning to score Justin Sessions who lead the inning off with a walk for the final run of the game and give East Brewton the win.
Wednesday night: East Brewton 13, Brewton 6
In a rematch game from Sunday night in which East Brewton dominated Brewton and won 12-2, East Brewton got the better hand of Brewton again Wednesday as they won 13-6 and advanced to play Opp for the championship.
The loss eliminated Brewton from the tournament.
East Brewton led 6-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning after plating four runs in the fourth inning.
But in the fifth inning, Brewton scored four runs, three from Kyle Davis’ fourth homerun of the tournament, to tie the game at 6-6 after five innings of play.
With the game tied at 6-6, East Brewton rallied in the top of the sixth inning with seven runs of their own to claim a 13-6 lead and held Brewton to no runs to get the 13-6 win.
East Brewton held a 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning after Barksdale score.
East Brewton then scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning on two walks, two Brewton errors and two hits to take a 6-0 lead before Brewton scored two in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Offensively for East Brewton, Powell, Alex O’Keane and Rob Jones were all 1-for-4 with Powell having a double.
Joyner was 1-for-1 and Nick Laster was 1-for-3 with a double.
Brad Robinson was 1-for-1 with an RBI along with Taylor Elliott.
For Brewton, Davis was 2-for-3 with a homerun and three RBIs and Jones Manning and Chris Jones were both 1-for-3 in the loss.
Tuesday night: Opp 4, East Brewton 1
In a winners bracket game Tuesday night in East Brewton in the 11-and 12-year-old tournament, East Brewton was held to only two hits as they dropped a 4-1 game to Opp.
The loss dropped East Brewton to 1-1 in the tournament.
Michael Williams and Miles Powell had the two lone hits for East Brewton in the loss.
Williams had a single in the first inning and Powell had a double to lead off the sixth inning.
Williams later grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Powell for the lone run of the night for East Brewton.
Opp held a 1-0 lead after the first inning before adding one run in the top of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth, Opp plated two more runs to hold a 4-0 lead heading into the final inning of play.
Quantae Barksdale took the loss on the mound for the East Brewton All Stars.
Barksdale went 4 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on four hits, walked three and struck out 10.
Powell went the final 1 1/3 innings and allowed no runs and struck out two in the loss.
East Brewton was set to play Brewton in an elimination game Wednesday night for the right to take on Opp for the district championship.
