Local students who have been designing their own products and learning about business plans will show off their knowledge at a summer fair Saturday.
Alabama State University will present a Brewton Community Summer Festival at Burnt Corn Creek Park at 10 a.m. The fair culminates the end of a two-week program on the Southern Normal campus aimed at teaching students how to design, build and market items which will be for sale at the event.
Camp director Marilyn Bradley said the festival is a community affair.
Students have become “young entrepreneurs,” she said.
There will also be booths for information and vendors to satisfy hunger and thirst. The items the students have produced during the camp — such as pottery, jewelry, framing and flower pots will be for sale.
There will also be entertainment, games, jumpers and slides, food, drinks and music.
The price of admission — $5 for adults and $2 for children — will be used in the after-school program at the school. Children under the age of 3 are admitted free of charge.
