Brewton 13s go winless at state

Brewton’s 13-year-old All Star team went 0-for-4 in their state tournament in Satsuma.
The team lost to West Alabama in game one 13-2 and then lost to Sylacauga 21-1.
In their third game, Brewton lost to Satsuma 10-8 and ended the tournament and pool play with a 19-13 loss to Opp.
West Alabama 13,
Brewton 2
Brewton was held to just two runs and West Alabama scored runs in all but one inning as Brewton lost 13-2 in the first game of the tournament in Satsuma.
Brewton fell behind 1-0 after the first inning and then 3-0 in the top of the third inning after West Alabama scored two more runs.
Brewton cut the lead to 3-1 with one run in the third inning, but West Alabama then scored one run in the fourth, three in the fourth, four in the fifth and two more in the sixth to get the 11-run win.
Offensively for Brewton, Dylan Godwin was 2-for-3 with a double, Kieon Smith was 1-for-2 and Jared Salter was 1-for-2 in the loss.
Sylacauga 21, Brewton 1
In game two, Brewton was held to one run in the first inning and only two hits as they fell to 0-2 in the tournament with a 21-1 loss to Sylacauga.
Sylacauga scored four runs in the first inning, seven in the second inning, three in the third inning and seven in the fourth inning to get the win by 20.
Godwin was 1-for-3 and Dominique Jackson was 1-for-1 in the loss.
Satsuma 10, Brewton 8
In their closest game of the tournament, Brewton rallied from a 6-0 deficit to tie the game at 7-7, but fell to three late runs to fall by two in their third game and fall to 0-3 in the tournament.
Satsuma built a 6-0 lead after the top of the second inning, but scored five runs in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to one at 6-5.
With Satsuma leading 7-5, Brewton tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the fifth inning, but Satsuma scored two runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh inning to take a 10-7 lead.
Brewton added one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the lead to 10-8, but that was as close as they would get.
Jackson was 2-for-5 with a double and Godwin was 1-for-3 with a double in the loss.
Trey Salter was 1-for-5 and Darby Black was 2-for-4 with a double. Caden Lodge was 1-for-3 and Damion Williams was 3-for-3 with a double in the loss.
Opp 19, Brewton 13
After Brewton scored nine runs in the first inning, Opp used a nine-run third inning and a four-run fourth inning to drop Brewton 19-13 and send them home winless.
Opp led 2-0 after the first inning, but Brewton used nine runs in the bottom of the inning to claim a 9-2 lead.
Opp cut the lead to 9-4 in the second inning and then scored nine runs in the third inning to take a 13-9 lead.
Brewton added a run in the bottom of the third inning to cut the lead to 13-10, but Opp scored four runs in the fourth inning to take a 17-10 lead.
Brewton scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 17-13 but Opp score one run each in the fifth and seventh innings to get the 19-13 win.
Jackson was 3-for-5 with a double and a triple and Godwin was 1-for-4.
Brandon Carmichael was 1-for-1 and Black was 3-for-5.
Smith was 1-for-1 with a double and Lodge was 1-for-2.
