Mrs. Virginia Harriet Goneke Graddy, 90, of Smith Road, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in a local nursing facility after a brief illness. She was a native of Pine Apple, and a former resident of Georgia, before moving to Castleberry. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennie Hollon.
She is survived by two sons, Johnny Graddy of Castleberry, and Bobby Graddy of South Carolina; two daughters, Beck Graddy Armstrong of Repton, and Betty Graddy Franklin of Mobile; a half-brother, Marshall Goneke of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Evie Mae Watson of East Brewton, and Annie Lou Cates of Birmingham; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 24, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Adam Armstrong and Brother Bryan Garrett officiating. Burial followed at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
