Mr. George W. Roberson Jr., 70, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in a Pensacola hospital. He was a native of Pensacola, Fla., a former resident of Pinview, and a resident of Atmore for the past 41 years. He attended the Baptist church and was preceded in death by a son, George Washington Roberson III.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ruth Roberson of Okeechbee, Fla.; three sons, Buddy Lee Roberson, Samuel Thomas Roberson and Mitchell Roberson, all of Atmore; three daughters, Renita Ann Henderson of Flomaton, Shelia Elaine Van Ree of Atmore, and Georgie Annie Roberson of Red Level; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Gillard Roberson of Gulf Shores; and a sister, Shirley Connel of Gulf Shores.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Samuel Roberson, Mitchell Roberson, Buddy Roberson, David Van Ree, Tim Van Ree, and James Henderson.
