D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital has received the  2009 VHA Leadership award for Clinical Excellence for clinical excellence, honoring the hospital for meeting or exceeding national performance standards for clinical care.
VHA serves more than 1,400 not-for-profit hospitals and more than 24,000 non-acute health care organizations nation wide. D.W. McMillan was one of 38 VHA member organizations to receive 2009 Leadership Awards for Clinical Excellence.
The VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence recognizes hospitals for quality, patient safety or the patient experience, and the winners had to meet defined standards for patient care.
D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital received its award for the patient experience. This category recognizes organizations that have achieved at least 75 percent “always” score in all six HCAHPS.
