While it may have been just a jamboree game loss for the W.S. Neal Eagles last Thursday in Atmore, Eagle head coach Kevin Jordan hopes this Thursday’s real game against Monroe County will go a lot better.
This week, W.S. Neal will travel to Monroeville to take on the Monroe County High School Tigers.
Monroe County went 1-9 last season and is under a new head coach with a lot more players than they usually have.
Jordan said Monroe County is a spread team on offense and they have a good quarterback and two or three really good receivers/running backs.
The Tigers of Monroe County are led by wide receiver Grant White (No. 1) and running back  Sherrod Smith (No. 5).
Jordan said a win Thursday would be big for his program.
The key to a W.S. Neal win Thursday night would be a simple formula, Jordan said.
Jordan said the plan may seem simplified, but that is the key.
W.S. Neal will take on Monroe County in the first game of the 2009 season at 7 p.m. Thursday in Monroeville.
